Radio Spectrum Business Update – March 2025
Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems (WMAS) now permitted in the 510 -606 MHz frequency band

RSM has enabled the new radio microphone technology, Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems (WMAS) in the 510 -606 MHz frequency band through updating General User Spectrum Licence 272800 with emission designators that allow wider bandwidths. At this stage WMAS has not been enabled in the 622 - 698 MHz frequency band due to ongoing consideration of 600 MHz for mobile under the New Zealand Spectrum Outlook 2023 to 2027. WMAS can already operate in the 1785 -1805 MHz frequency band under the General User Radio Licence for Short Range Devices
